Nie mam jakiejś szczególnej wiedzy pozwalającej tworzyć nowoczesne strony www ani bogatego doświadczenia w tym względzie, jednak moje amatorskie umiejętności i ambicja już kilka razy zdążyły stanąć przed niezwykle wysoką ścianą “wyjątkowych” cech Internet Explorera.

IE zdecydowanie dominuje na rynku przeglądarek – na chwilę obecną w Polsce wersji 6.x lub 7.x używa 65% internautów (ranking.pl). Ma on w ogólności opinię aplikacji dziurawej i zacofanej, niedostosowanej do obecnych standardów. Brak zgodności ze standardami sprawia, że programiści mają z nim wiele kłopotów. Tworząc kilka nieskomplikowanych stron doświadczyłem przykrych niespodzianek związanych z drobnymi różnicami w interpretacji kodu, występującymi między IE a innymi przeglądarkami obsługującymi standardy W3C. Można sobie wyobrazić na jakie przeszkody natrafiają zaawansowani programiści tworzący swoje witryny.

Kolejnym mankamentem Internet Explorer’a jest bezpieczeństwo. Mimo, że za IE stoi potężna korporacja, to jej pracownicy nie potrafią uporać się ze straszną ilością dziur tej przeglądarki. Co pewien czas słyszy się o jakiejś większej luce bezpieczeństwa, co nie jest to jeszcze jakimś szczególnym powodem do narzekań. Problemem jest przede wszystkim to, że dziury te są łatane z dużymi opóźnieniami, a często nawet wcale. Tak na dobrą sprawę używanie Internet Explorer’a sprowadza się do zostawienia niedomkniętych drzwi do swojego komputera oraz hamowania rozwoju Internetu i związanych z nim technologii.

W takiej sytuacji warto rozejrzeć się za jakąś alternatywą. Na platformę Windows najpopularniejsze są Mozilla Firefox i Opera (takie programy jak Maxthon czy Avant są nijako nakładkami na IE ponieważ korzystają z tego samego silnika, a co za tym idzie posiadają wszystkie jego braki). Są to przeglądarki darmowe, szybkie i nowoczesne, przyjazne dla użytkownika, bezpieczniejsze od IE, z bardzo dużym stopniem zgodności ze standardami. Strona browsehappy.pl pomoże wszystkim zapoznać się szerzej z możliwościami nowoczesnych przeglądarek i porównać je z Internet Explorer’em.

Słowo które budzi we mnie alergiczną reakcję. Pewnie dlatego, że kojarzy się ze słodko-misiaczkowatymi bLoGgUśAmI albo innymi ekshibicjonistycznymi tworami w stylu “chcę umrzeć bo Krzysio z bloku naprzeciwko już mnie nie kocha…”.

Zakładam, że zaczną się tu pojawiać linki do, z jakiegoś powodu, wartych zobaczenia stron. Ale ponieważ nic nie robi się samo, to całkiem prawdopodobne iż jest to ostatni wpis.
